DESCRIPTION: Little Red is a curious little squirrel who lives in Boston. One day his curiosity gets the best of him. He finds himself lost near the Common and strangely enough, a giant spruce tree from Nova Scotia helps reunite him with his family. This story is based on the Christmas tree that Nova Scotia gives to New England every year, and the real events of the 1917 Halifax Explosion that led to this act of kindness. Guimond, a Westborough resident, is currently celebrating her 19th year as a first-grade teacher in Westborough. Illustrator Brian Cunningham also lives in Westborough with his wife and three daughters, all of whom shared their first-grade year in Guimond class.
