An imaginative young woman encounters extraordinary spiritual experiences. At first, she doubts herself, her perceptions and even questions her own sense of knowing. The more open she is about what she feels, the more conflict she has with others, also struggling with internal conflict between emerging new ideas and what she was raised to believe.
After growing up in a liberal, secular Jewish family, in Berkeley California in the 1950’s and 1960’s, she is catapulted into unfamiliar territory when she has a jarring Near Death Experience on her honeymoon. She begins to question everything she thought she knew about a reasonable and rational world, including her own mental stability.
She turns to her husband, Aaron, a computer design engineer, who is deeply entrenched in the world of science and technology, to help her to understand what is happening. Although Aaron tries to be loving and supportive, he cannot be persuaded that the “Woo-Woo” experiences and subsequent change of beliefs Kitty expresses could possibly align with his own down to earth sense of reality.
Kitty begins remembering a series of past lives, becoming more and more frantic. Through dreams, travels to places she realizes she has been to before, and an encounter with past life regression therapy, she finds out more and more about all of her other lifetimes. How could she have lived all of these other lives over thousands of years and still be the person she is now? Understanding that she needs more help processing this, Kitty consults a wise spiritual counselor who poses new questions for her to ask herself. The ensuing discussion provides many questions that the readers may wish to ask themselves.
What is the impact of different locations, time periods, genders, and historical events if reincarnation is actually true? It is one thing to celebrate diversity by getting to know many people of different ethnicities and creeds, but quite another to face the prospect that you yourself have been a member of different groups of people over time!
Could the entire human family be recycling through time so that we can finally come to understand that “Us vs. Them” is a fallacy? Could there really be a loving God who wants all of us to come together in Unity? At this time of massive change, could the eventual outcome of this shift bring us to much greater peace and understanding in the long run?
This novel is both a fun and engaging story, and an opportunity to think about how your own beliefs have changed over time, and may come to change more in the future.
